Planting a Food Plot For Deer SeasonWe’re showcasing the versatility of Ventrac machines in a unique application - preparing a food plot for deer season in a prime location for fall. This spot on the edge of a soybean field is ideal for a Ventrac tractor. Its low-profile design and wide stance offer unmatched stability and confidence, even on steep, uneven terrain.We started plot preparation with the Ventrac Bucket to level out ruts left by heavy equipment moving logs and trees. Also helpful onsite would have been the Landscape Rake and Power Rake to further our efficiency and terrain leveling.Next up are the Soil Cultivator and Primary Seeder. The Soil Cultivator, typically used for lawn installations, prepares the perfect seedbed with a loose top layer and firm base, encouraging stronger root growth. Unlike traditional tillers, the cultivator helps retain surface moisture better, ensuring vigorous plant development.After the surface is prepped, we load up the Primary Seeder with white clover, turnips, and alfalfa seeds to attract deer. This seeder ensures better germination rates with precise seed-to-soil contact, mitigating factors like birds and rainwater run-off from disturbing the seed.Preparing food plots for deer season with the Ventrac allows you to clear land, cultivate the soil, and seed your plot all with one machine.
