How To Stripe Hills With a Flail Mower - Using the Ventrac Flail Mower Alongside Airport RunwaysThe Ventrac Flail Mower is the perfect attachment for mowing alongside airport runways. When most airports build the runway, they create a flat spot for the planes to take off and land, and because they manipulate the land around them, there is usually a drop-off and very steep hills around the runway. All of the steep areas around the runway are very easily managed by the Ventrac 4500 with dual wheels.To maintain these steep slopes, airports need equipment to handle these hills safely and still leave a high-quality cut. Airports have specific mowing needs because they have to keep the grass maintained for erosion control. They might mow every 4-8 weeks; therefore, the growth will be a lot higher than most areas maintained more frequently. A regular finish mower doesn’t quite do the job in these areas of high growth. And a rough cut mower doesn’t leave as nice of a finish with the risk of leaving clumps of grass behind as it discharges.Since it’s coupled on the Ventrac tractor, the Flail Mower can handle the terrain easily and chops debris into very fine pieces, which will help it decompose faster.
